Descrizione dell’opera
Ugo Nespolo was born in 1941 in Piedmont, graduated from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin and earned a degree in Modern Literature. He began his career in the Sixties, drawing inspiration from Pop Art, Futurism, Arte Povera and new avant-garde movements such as Art Nouveau and Art Déco, as well as cinema. For Nespolo, the artist's role is to bring art into everyday life: he creates posters for exhibitions, set designs, advertising campaigns and events in Italy and throughout Europe. His works, with their ironic style, are the result of life and work experiences. His art aims to convey a sense of positivity and offers the viewer a combination of colors that represent the synthesis of the nuances of the world we live in. Nespolo, who seeks depth, shows how difficult it is to describe the world with simplicity. Superficial beauty does not interest him: he chooses abstract form, but combined with figurative art. As in a game, he mixes reality and fantasy, using ironic language to defeat anxieties and fears. Beauty, for him, can be found anywhere, even in urban decay. To understand his art, one must let oneself be carried away by the flow of his colors, without any resistance, without using mental patterns or having prejudices. Nespolo reduces forms to geometric figures with elements that overlap and join together like interlocking pieces, as in marble inlays. Each fragment is unique and different from the others. The viewer is invited to use imagination to compose the individual pieces together and draw infinite possible solutions in the mind
